Homosexuality – moral or immoral?

As some of you already know, I registered for an applied ethics course this semester. I have to submit two essays, the first one being:

What arguments might be advanced to defend the view that homosexual actions are immoral? Do any of these arguments succeed?

My essay can be accessed here:

It is +/- 2 000 words. If you hate long reads, you should probably give this a skip.

No mention of authorship in the doc? At least “Aimzy Waimzy” with a link to here would help. ;)

Overall, a good read and good arguments. My view on the subject is that consenting adults shouldn’t need to follow everyone else’s morals.

One thing I noticed is that you’ve mentioned anal sex but there is no mention of lesbian acts. Also, many heterosexual couples also engage in anal sex to the enjoyment of both parties.

I feel the simplest argument against necrophilia and bestiality that it is without the consent of the dead and/or the animals in question.

A twist on my view is that, though I still think it is a distateful act, I don’t think it is unethical to engage in necrophilia with someone who requested it before their death. It is an extremely unlikely scenario however.

    Thanks for the comment tricky!!

One reason for the lack of focus on lesbian acts was because it was not substantially covered in lectures. Further more, of the arguments against anal sex, many could also be applied to lesbian sex, so the reader should be aware of the connection without having been told

I mentioned at the beginning of the essay that we should distinguish between homosexual tendencies and homosexual acts, whereby the latter included homosexual acts performed by heterosexual couples.
